The academy visit checklist: questions to ask before joining.

Use a campus visit to verify everyday teaching, support, costs and safety arrangements. Ask for evidence and written terms before deciding whether the academy fits the student.

TAKE THIS WITH YOU
  • See the facilities included in the proposed course, not just promotional photographs.
  • Ask how teaching, doubts and progress reviews work in practice.
  • Record all charges and approved cancellation terms before paying.
01 / FIELD NOTES

Prepare your questions before the visit

Decide which course you are considering and list the student’s main needs. These might be weak mathematics foundations, a manageable school timetable, help analysing tests or guidance before an assessment.

Take a notebook and separate essential requirements from preferences. Confirm the location and appointment before travelling.

Use the contact page for the current Patna address and phone. Confirm the availability and inclusions of facilities for your chosen batch.

02 / FIELD NOTES

Understand an ordinary teaching week

Ask to see a sample timetable for the batch being discussed. Check the language of instruction, subject allocation, class duration and expected independent study.

Ask who teaches each subject and how substitute classes are handled. A useful follow-up is: what happens when a student does not understand the current topic?

Listen for a clear process covering questions, practice, feedback and a chance to revisit the concept.

Put this into context: NDA, CDS, AFCAT or SSB: which preparation path fits you?

03 / FIELD NOTES

Look at progress reporting and student support

Ask how the academy distinguishes attendance from learning progress. A score alone may hide repeated mistakes or incomplete coverage.

Request an example of the kind of feedback a student receives, with other students’ personal information removed. Clarify how guardians can raise concerns, how missed classes are handled and whom to contact if a problem remains unresolved.

Confirm whether those services are included in the proposed fee.

04 / FIELD NOTES

Verify accommodation separately if it is offered

A classroom visit does not establish the quality of a hostel. If accommodation is available, inspect the actual location and ask about supervision, entry arrangements, meals, drinking water, hygiene, emergency contact procedures and travel between buildings.

Clarify the total accommodation cost and the written terms for leaving. Discuss the arrangements with the student as well as the guardian.

Do not assume accommodation or physical-training facilities are included without written confirmation.

05 / FIELD NOTES

Read costs and result claims carefully

Request a written fee breakdown covering tuition, materials, tests, registration and any optional services. Read cancellation and refund terms before paying, and keep receipts.

When reviewing student results, check the examination, year and exact stage reached. A written-examination qualification, interview recommendation and final selection are different milestones.

Ask what course the student attended and whether the testimonial has been shared with permission.

06 / FIELD NOTES

Review the decision together after the visit

Give the student space to explain what felt useful and what remains unclear. Compare the answers against the needs you listed before the visit.

Follow up on missing information rather than assuming it will work out later. If you are comparing academies, use the same questions for each one.

Keep the timetable, fee quote, policies and contact details in one folder so the final decision rests on the same evidence.

Common questions

Should a parent attend the discussion?

Where appropriate, involving a parent or guardian helps everyone understand the schedule, total cost and support arrangements. Keep the student actively involved in the decision.

Does Tejas currently provide a hostel?

Academy-supplied information lists a boys hostel at ₹7,000 per month plus a ₹7,000 security deposit. Confirm current room availability, meals and any separate charges, supervision, hostel rules and written deposit-return terms directly before booking or making travel plans.
